We live in a time of dramatic change. Cheap energy is becoming scarce, the U.S. economy
is straining under its own debt laden weight and human effluence is bringing about a dangerous era of global weather weirding. Even in the face of so much change and awareness of our resource limits the dominent economic paradigm of growth at all costs continues to reign. What are we
going to do with this sobering reality? Two things.
First we need to party, second we need to plan and prepare for a new way
of living. Burning Man is an excellent
beginning.
Burning Man is the epitome of that preparatory party. It is the
event where tens of thousands come in their hydrocarbon burning vehicles to
celebrate one of humans' most primal urge, to burn. And burn we do. If anything it is a last-gasp celebration of the availability of fossil fuels for our explosive entertainment. This is the party to end all parties,
a time to celebrate, a time to renew. What better place to birth a new paradigm for human existence than at the party where we celebrate the death of the old.

Mission Statement:
Sustainabilaville is about living intentionally in harmony
with our resources and community. Here we will provide a mini-model of how humans in community can support each other in the face of what is ahead.
Vision:
Sustainabilaville is a camp that will try to model a way of
being in social and environmental systems that helps us all live sustainably on
this planet. We will create a space to
be in community and learn about sustainability. We begin every day with a check-in circle to
bring everyone present with each other.
We will manage the process of building a camp with consensual decision
making. We will use alternative power
and grey water systems to leave no trace, on the playa and in our air. We will most of all, be silly, playful and
enjoy our time together!
Events:
- Daily camp circle check-in. Everyone is welcome.
- Camp Counselors - providing our own special form of hand-holding to the Burning Man community
- Daily cookies fresh from the solar cooker
- AEZ tour stop - take the tour a get a fresh cookie!
History:
2005 was the first year for Sustainabilaville.
