Sustainabilaville Camp Clean-up Plan
Our camp is made up of a tight-knit community of folks that are interested in sustainability. We intend to leave the playa as we have found it if not better. To ensure we do our part and are organized about it, our clean up plan is:
- We do not bring any excessive packaging to the playa. We prep all of our food and snacks before we get to the playa to reduce water. We pre-cook our food and vacuum pack everything.
- We haul in water in 55 gallon water barrels so we cut down on container waste.
- We capture all of our dishwater and shower water in 5 gallon buckets.
- Our evap system involves filtering gray water and pumping it with a bilge pump over hardware cloth in a 8x8 evap pond for maximum evaporation. Any water that does not evaporate we will haul out.
- We will dry all of our compost to be hauled out.
- All campmates know that sequined costumes and easily lost feathery things are strictly prohibited. We repeat this at each of our monthly meetings leading up to arrival on the Playa.
- All campmates will spend at least 2 hours scouring playa post event for our camp and at least 2 hours scouring playa for our neighborhood.
- We will capture all recycling materials to be hauled out in a multi-can system.
- If for any reason any wood or metal would need to be cut on the Playa a tarp will be laid down to capture any moop.
- Our cafe and chill space will be carpeted to prevent any drinking/spilling accidents.
